We publish the cities we have data for and leave the rest blank, rather than filling a fifty-row table with national averages.
Where the numbers come from
Across the United States a real pier job needs 4 to 14 piers, and every one of them is priced within the same $1,300-2,900 band regardless of state.
The 2 US cities we have researched quote piers within about $800 of each other, while their pier counts differ because their soil moves for opposite reasons.
An independent United States structural engineer's report costs $400-900 and is the one purchase we recommend before any repair quote.
Our unit prices come from quotes reported to us by homeowners and contractors during 2026, plus the local soil and climate factors we can establish for that region. We publish the unit rate and the reasoning, not a single headline figure.
What we will not do
- We will not publish a pier count as a national average. Count is the variable that matters and it is entirely local.
- We will not list a city we have not researched. A longer table looks more authoritative and would be less true.
- We will not rank or review contractors. We have no honest basis for that judgement.
- We will not sell your enquiry to several companies. Each one goes to a single independent local contractor.
How we are paid
A flat monthly fee from the contractor who receives the enquiries, not a commission and not a percentage of your project. In a trade sold by the pier, that structure matters more than usual: we gain nothing from you buying more piers than your house needs, which is why the most prominent advice on this site is to buy an independent engineer's report first.
